Default Bold 9650 GSM 1900 Band/Frecuency HELP!

I am in Latin America (Central America) and my Provider is Telefonica (Movistar).

My Bold 9650 has network problems (BBM not receiving or sending messages, etc). But most of the time it works pretty well. I have been back and forth regarding OS's (5 & 6), and I don't see any difference in the network.

Well, I am trying to see if there is a work-around for my problem, or if I should buy a new phone (either 9700 or 9900).

I keep reading that this phone is a Worldwide Phone, and should have no problems in connecting to these networks.

The Service Books sending option has been tried many times and it feels the same.

Also, I keep reading that you can paste a Radio File to only allow the phone to be on a GSM network. I'm a little confused if GSM includes 3G or not.. or if it's only Edge/GPRS, etc.

Anyways, I want the phone to work.. something that I am not experiencing at the moment. Oh, and it's not related with the outage, because I have been searching for a solution for months now.

Cheers.
