Default bold 9650 charging port bad?

I noticed that my charging port seems to be recessed within the casing on my 9650 just a bit. I have also been getting a warning message when I unplug my charger that says something to the effect of charger not in full contact with the port even tho it does charge. I'm not sure how recessed (if at all) the port was originally. I'm still under warranty and am debating on whether the port is loose within the casing or if I just didn't have the charger seated properly (I only saw the message twice). Anyone know if this is a common prob for the 9650 and whether I should take it back?

If your still under warranty I would suggest getting a new phone even though I haven't heard of this being a regular problem with the 9650. The charging port is a very important part of the phone and in constant use (unless you use a charging pod) and very necessary for phone usage day to day

If your 9650 is naked I strongly recommend a charging pod. It's one of the best reasons for owning that phone. Amazon has them for under 10 bucks.

Just had a very similar issue and bought the cradle. Cheap and solved the charging problem and now saving the USB port for data transfer and synching before it completely dies.

Charging port issues aren't widespread, but they aren't uncommon either. Sometimes they just become loose over time. If your phone is still under warranty, call VZW and tell them what's going on. Forget that the port is recessed unless it has become more so with use. Mine have all been just a bit recessed. Tell them about the not making contact message. They'll likely have a new one on the way by the end of day.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I compared my 9650's port with the one on my storm 9550 and they both are recessed. I don't think that is an issue as it seems to be the way they are manufactured. The warning message has me a bit concerned but I'm now thinking that my Innocase Active may have been restricting me from getting the charger in properly. The port isn't loose or anything. Maybe I'm just being paranoid about it since my mom had an issue with her Curve 8330 port foulin' up. Think I will try the charging cradle though.

Was kinda hopin' it was bad so I could try to talk Verizon into giving me a new Bold 9930 to replace it. Wishful thinkin' though.

Remember that you'll have to take the Innocase off the phone to use the charging pod.

BTW, I wouldn't count on getting a new 9930 right now as a replacement for your 9650. Big Red apparently has lots of CPO 9650s for replacements.
