Bold 9650: BIS not working on Safaricom Kenya

I bought an unlocked Sprint blackberry bold 9650 and i have been using it for 2 days but it doesn't connect to the blackberry service on gsm network Safaricom Kenya. I transfered a sim card i was using on blackberry 9330 which was still under BIS. I have tried the following::

• • Registering on the host routing table
  • Calling customer service and they werent much help
  • Installing the latest OS 6.0.0.600 from Sprint

if i put my sim card on my earlier blackberry,the BIS works.so whatcould be the problem?any suggestions are welcome:confused

Having the exact same problem with Orange in Senegal. The BIS works when the SIM is in a curve, but not in my bold. I have done all of the things the OP did as well. Any ideas?

It seems to work now. I talked to safaricom technical service people and they said that the phone not been released by its former network. I was able to have it released and they sent me the service books

Hey moreeece, how did you have it released? I have exactly the same problem but I'm not sure whether it's the same cause
