Blackberry Bold 9650...any testimonials?
Hey guys, my boyfriend just got a job with a company that uses these phones for company use. Just out of curiosity, what do you guys think of the phone? Any problems? (It's on Sprint of course, but you knew that.) Thanks

The 9650 was my favorite phone i had used until I went with the 9930. No problems with it at all.
I hope this helps. - 06-01-2012, 04:39 AM #5
Great phone, and it has one of the best keyboards imo, comparable to the 9900/9930.

Definitely a great phone that's a total workhorse. I've had mine for nearly two years with no trouble. Great keyboard, great features and functionality, syncs perfectly with MS Outlook, and I've put a 16GB card in mine so it actually has as much capacity as my PlayBook. Would be interesting to know if the 9650 your boyfriend gets will have OS5 or OS6 on it.

The BOLD 9650 was/is a good BlackBerry device. I used one for 23 months until I recently purchased my Bold 9930

I just traded down from a 9930 to a 9650. It wasn't so much that the 9930 was a bad device, but I just had too many "incidental" bumps on the touchscreen. Call me an old school blackberry guy, but the best non-touchscreen BB is the 9650. The browser isn't up to standard, but I love everything else about it. So glad to be back, and for retro sake I'm even running OS 5 for a few days.

Thanks all! So it sounds like a pretty good device for what he's doing (he works for Coca-Cola) and they will rarely be using the web browser, so not much of a problem. The main bosses don't like the BB's, but thats because they don't know how to use them

The 9650 is a fine device. As for the web browser put Opera on it (m.opera.com in the native browser > download), assuming he can and the device is not locked down with an IT policy.

The 9650 is a solid device. Good battery life, nice keyboard. It was great for email and texting. I had mine for two years until I upgraded to the 9930 a few months ago. It's still my backup device.

What a terrific topic! I'm using a Bold 9650, too! (Mine's the non-camera model.) I was using an 8330m Curve, which is a nice BlackBerry, too, but I wanted the "world" (i.e. SIM card) roaming option. Mine came with BlackBerry 6, and the latest official version from Sprint (706) is the most stable one yet, albeit it has the missing "Compose PIN" flaw. Keyboard, screen, micro sd card support (32 gb), call quality, and battery life, along with all the other standard BlackBerry features, make for a world class communication tool.

I had no issues with my 9650. But, man, I love the 9930. Keyboard is top notch. Phone is quick, bright, light. The touch makes navigation even more efficient!

Yes, it looks really nice. Those features you mention, especially the keyboard and screen, are drawing me to it.

The 9650 is a great device. But the 9930 is so awesome! You can actually use the browser too, full web pages. But just the keyboard and touch alone are worth the upgrade imo.

After 2 years plus using my 9650, I am really struggling to keep it going until a BB10 Qwerty comes out. My battery continually overheats and I have to suffer through random reboots until I buy a new battery. I have gone through 3 batteries in 4 months. The charging port won't charge even tho I get the charging icons on screen. The browser is pathetic IMHO. I am not a huge fan of Opera mini, but it sooooo much better than native. I have seen others on CB have the exact same battery issue. To be fair, I have seen a couple of postings from Torch users that have the same issue with the Torch phones released around the same time. Still love BB, no way I am jumping ship, but keeping this phone going until BB10 is out is killing me. No way I am getting a 9930 with BB10 coming out within the next 6 months
You need DropBox and I need 500mb Get dropbox here - 06-15-2012, 06:11 PM #25
Wow. How does a phone get that messed up in two years? Are you an especially demanding user with extremes in temperature and weather exposure?

And how are you liking your 9930?
