Default BES Sync Issue

Hi All,

My device (running OS 5) is on the corporate BES server. A month or so ago, a sync issue between exchange and the BB started. Some emails that are read and/or deleted on the PC, do not delete and/or show as read on the BB. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

Others on the BES server are not having the same issue and the admin made no changes. I wiped the BB, reinstalled the OS, re-activated on BES and still having the issue.

Reconcile is on and mailbox wins.

Any thoughts? So annoying to have to manually go thru the BB and delete anything deleted on the PC.

I'm on a BES using OS6 (version .587) and haven't had any problems with syncing. I seem to remember some with OS5 on my old Tour but it has been a while. You might try a different OS version.

I would have suggested everything you've already done. The only additional thing I would suggest is have them remove you from BES entirely, wipe your phone, and then reactivate. So basically starting over completely as if it were a new phone being added to BES. If you just re-activated without deleting everything from the BES itself, it will still keep track of what things it has synced and even after re-activation the problem could still persist.

We are using Zimbra with BES for exchange. So we may have other oddities going on in our environment, but these steps have usually corrected any issues similar to what you have stated. I will also say that we have many devices ranging from OS4.x to 6.x. Not that it's impossible, but I really doubt the OS version on your phone has anything to do with your issue.

Have you checked with your BES admin? It could be an issue with Exchange, or with BES. Sometimes just deleting the BES user object and re-creating it will resolve certain issues.

Thx. Actually downgraraded to OS5 because OS6 was a battery drain and was always freezing. Also had a Tour on OS5 and never had any issues.

Nope, downgraraded the day I got the new phone and before activating on BES.

Verizon transferred the call to Blackberry support and they suggested what was mentioned above - delete user from BES, wipe handheld, add account and re-activate. what a pain!

I didn't think the downgrade was going to solve your issue. It's a BES thing, not an OS thing.

Agreed - the OS was a preference thing. Never has BES active befor the downgrade.

So we deleted the my BES user account, security wipe to handheld, new account, re-activation.

Now -most emails sync, but roughly 10% do not show as 'read' or deleted on the handheld when read or deleted from Outlook.

Really frustrating stuff, and probably my last blackberry after 10 years of using one.
