backup contacts to computer win7

Backup for contacts synched and downloaded to comp only show gibberish. Says select proper encoding. None available will work Win 7 bold 9650 OS6 verizon

1 ipd is the only ext I see

If you're using Desktop Manager your backup(s) will be .ipd; restoring is also done with Desktop Manager.

If you want to view the .ipd on your PC you need something such as BerryGrab. Berry Grab - Open and view your Blackberry IPD file online - Free and Secure

You can also back up your contacts with Desktop Manager and use the ASCII sync option. This creates a .csv file on your computer desktop that is easily editable with Excel.
