| | Am I crazy?
I have decided to go from the Motorola Droid Bionic to a Blackberry 9650.
The Bionic is just to darn big for me and I dont have 4g in my area. Plus I need the money. The only apps i need is some type of navigation, tune in radio, facebook, gmail, usaa, my verizon, and youtube.
I know the broweser is gonna be SUPER SLOW, but as long as i can sure crackberry then I will survie (i hope). I just really miss a keyboard. Plus when I have a BB, i dont look like a baby with a toy, seems like i get more respect with a BB. lol (i know that sounds weird). haha.
Also, what is "memory leaks" and why do BBs have them?
Thanks!!!

Memory leak is the loss of memory caused when the OS fails to release used memory. Less and less a problem these days with larger memories and better OS releases.
Welcome to BB world. Enjoy. |

The browser isn't super slow, and not all BB's have memory leaks. OS 6.0.0.587 for the 9650 is a very stable OS, and the browsing isn't as awful as you may have heard.
That said, I would have opted for the 9930 over the 9650, but enjoy your new device!

Your not crazy, I am sitting here with an activated IP4 and a non activated 9650. I have been going back and forth all day on whether to activate the BB or not. I guess f nothing else after a couple of days I will know for sure which one I like the best. After you get over playing games the IP4 loses some of its attraction.

Thanks!!! | Yes - agree with posts that say this is much less of a problem with the newer phones.
I think that we actually should have called these "memory buildups" or something else besides "leaks". The memory was not leaking away, it was getting filled up with info/programs that did not get removed when the program closed. So then less memory was available. A re-boot or battery pull worked because the startup process erased all the data and left all the memory available on startup.

fwiw, if you dont like native bb browser, opera is an option. also, dont just swallow hype re bb experience isnt all that, it's untrue - its a question of how to do on bb what you want. search on here, you will be surprised and pleased. bb experience can be quite pleasant as well as productive.

I'm trading my HTC Thunderbolt for a 9650! My reasoning is the 9650 has been out a while and is stable, good battery life, apps compatible, no bugs and cheaper!
I'm excited to get back to BB!
I'll miss a lot of features of my Bolt. It's a great device.

The memory falls AS I WATCH IT. The numbers go down. It doesn't matter if the phone is sitting still, during the night or being used. It leaks memory. Rather mine BLEEDS memory. But whatever. I still love my 9650 and have had it since the day it released on VZW. And I will replace it with another BlackBerry when it is time.
Oh and I have tried every OS EXCEPT 587; this includes hybrids and leaked OSes as well.

Although there are many who say .587 from MTS Mobility( or is it Cellular South?) is the best of OS 6. So take your pick.
