Yes, you can load Italian language files on your 9650.

I see that you are running OS 5. I do not know if the multi-language package for OS5 is still available. You might have to load OS6. Verizon's latest multi-language version has the Italian language files.

You can do a java swap from any all language build for the 9650 (or any blackberry with 512MB memory) and upon install with loader you'll have the option to install italian language

Somebody is charging for OS6? You're kidding, right? It is offered free from RIM, through the carriers. The latest version released by a carrier (with the Italian language files) is Sprint's 6.0.0.600. Get it here from RIM https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...wseSoftware.do . Choose your phone model, then hit NEXT. Look for the second file down the page. It's labelled BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.2647 (AllLang) . You need the AllLanguage version if you want Italian on your phone. Click the link for that file. On the next page you'll have to fill out a form and then you'll be good to go.

Don't worry about loading an OS released by another carrier. RIM writes the OS -- the carriers just provide it to the users. Any OS written for the 9650 should work on your phone, so long as after you install to your PC, you remove the hidden file VENDOR.XML from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. If you leave it, LOADER or DM won't see the OS when you connect your phone.

There is a second VENDOR.XML as part of the newer OS releases. You'll have to delete it as well. Look for it here: C:\Users\*name*\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML\ . Again, it'll be hidden so you'll need to enable Windows to show hidden files.

You can also just search for VENDOR.XML. Make sure that you choose ADVANCED SEARCH and include hidden files. It should show the file in at least two locations. Delete every copy that it finds.

Good luck.

For those following in English:

** not found the Italian language with sprint. 600 ... I'm using. 524 with verizon wireless try this link: BlackBerry® Software Updates then click multilanguage and type a number casual

The second file on that Sprint link that I sent the OP is for the all language version. I didn't use the VZW link because they ask for a VZW telephone number. I've not tried to make up a number to see if it works.

i tried the sprint software and i did not see italian listed for one of the languages on the multilanguage package. it was portuguese, french, spanish, and some others, but italian wasnt there, unless i was doing something wrong? i tried it twice.

anyway, ive heard of others trying to download the verizon software by inserting a number and it worked, hopefully for the op too

Try using the second file on that Sprint page. The first is for the multilanguage version, which includes only a half-dozen or so languages. The second is the all language version with lots of languages, including Italian.
