why do youtube videos look so bad?
I'm trying to watch youtube on my bold and the playback is just horrible. Is there a setting I can adjust? Sometimes its just a big blur...wtf?

Theres nothing you can adjust right now. They just look that way because of the low queality. I wish there was a way to make it full screen.

It has something to do with the encoding they use for the Mobile Youtube site. it's a YT issue, not a BB issue.

It looks much better on nokia n95. So i do not think it is the site.

the nokia n95/96 can handle flash which is why it can watch youtube files natively
iphones have a special relationship with youtube, the files are converted to (probably) mp4
the blackberry, with no pull or flash ability, has to rely on the mobile site.
don't think less of me, but streaming porn to the blackberry bold really shows off what the bold can do - 02-11-2009, 02:16 AM #8 Exactly...And I've noticed this as well, even the sound quality is terrible on the Bold on youtube mobile. When i use my 8900, it looks and sounds much better...In terms of visual quality the Bold's resolution is so high and all the videos on m.youtube.com have been scaled down and converted to to 3g2[i believe] so that anyone with a browser on their phone that supports this format can also enjoy youtube. Most phones do not have the anywhere near the resolution that the Bold is capable of. Hmmm, in terms of sound the same reason applies. I assume this also has to do with the Bold's 'sorround' speaker system. The same thing happens if you had an old 3gp recording from an old phone and sent it to the Bold, you should experience the same thing...Sucks
