Have tested all available OS with the exception of .291 as it essentially isn't an OS (essentially a bastardized hybrid from the carrier); back on .266 which I have always reverted to due to overall stability and performance. .282 media lag and battery issue ruled that out as an OS to fall back to, .266 has been fail proof for me.

9000/4.6.0.266 it is not the latest but it seems stable.

I have not had battery issues on .282. I can switch to EDGE if I need to conserve the battery and use 3G if I need faster loading of Web pages/simultaneous voice & data.

Battery life has seemed to go down a little for me with .282 so I will be going back to .266.

I went up to OS 5 (130) but it had a lot of bugs, so had to downgrade to .282, with which I am happy.

I'm on .282 and had terrible battery life like others are reporting. The bizarre thing is that as of last night and throughout today it has been wonderful, so hopefully something has happened that has fixed the issue. Otherwise I love .282...

Real post....
ive had the phone for 11 days now, upgraded os to .247, unbranded using a different vsm, and, worst of all, i have broken the warranty seal because i blacked the bold out... - 08-05-2009, 10:54 AM #16
I'm running and loving BBCrackmans's bold hybrid. 282 and 5.0 files it works great and the new browser is fast enough that I rarely turn on 3G unless I'm downloading something. It hasn't caused me a single issue yet and my file free stays higher then it ever has!

.282, although I probably will be going back down to .266 not only because battery life can seem dodgy (a subjective thing, admittedly), but also because it takes 3 times as long to scan the media card after a restart. That is intolerable, and I will not stand for it. At least until I get off my duff and get around to downgrading.

I'm on 5.0.0.130 for more than a week now, and although there a few issues, I like it so far. I didn't have to reboot for almost 4 days, and I just upgraded an app today that required a reboot. The battery does seem to drain faster than previous OS's especially on 3G, and I'm getting better 3G reception on this OS. I'm always close to a charger too.

My Bold is unbranded, is .266 really that good battery wise? Is it comparable to .247?

.282. Just downgraded from 5.0.0.130

Was on 5.0.0.90 which was great except for a few minor issues:
Some apps didn't work (Facebook, Word Mole - an issue for my daughter), and the media player would stop functioning and require a battery pull (though the functionality of the media player was much better).
Went to 282 which came on a replacement device (h/w problem) from Rogers. It seems pretty good, but I'll upgrade to 5.0 whenever it becomes official. - 08-05-2009, 03:25 PM #25
