Vlingo
Can I ask what users of Vlingo think of the facility? Particularly interested in reviews from any UK based users. There seems to be mixed reviews but do appear to be a lot of problems caused by downloading the app and mixed reactions as to how well it actually performs.
Sounds like a great app in principle - particularly the facility to dictate emails - but does it actually work or cause more problems than its worth? - 01-04-2009, 06:24 AM #2
Well im from the uk and have had vlingo installed for about a week. It works pretty well i would say..its not perfect though. Ive tried dictating emails etc and sometimes it puts up what i say exactly...other times it comes up with a pile of rubbish lol. Its the same with voice dialling contacts....sometimes i will say a name and it will pick it out but other times it gets it completely utterly wrong.
Like i said its not perfect but compared to the built in voice dialling app...i find it much better to be honest. - 01-04-2009, 08:44 AM

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll give it a go and see what happens...

I have been on vlingo in the USA for several months. As previously mentioned, it does not always understand correctly what you are saying but overall it is a great safety tool for emailing/texting while driving. I would rather have an incorrect word every now and then than get wrapped around a tree!!! lol
Just talk slowly and clearly like a robot and it understands pretty well (lol). Also it's free so... why not try it!! - 01-04-2009, 12:29 PM #6
Just installed a couple of days ago and still playing around with it. So far, so good.

Vlingo is a challenge to figure out. At first I thought you would be able to speak and type into any bb app that uses text. I learned quick that is not the case. Vlingo works well to compose personal notes and search the web (it still misinterprets my speech a llot of the time)...
I hope they work on it and develop newer versions so they work out the kinks in the app... Thats my 2 cents...Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

I have it as my right convenience key. As a 4.6 app, it is difficult to install on the Storm and it can lock up on, "Start Media". I choose not to do that again. Quirky, but fantastic potential. I think it will be a key component for Storm in the near future. I can edit EXISTING MemoPad files with Vlingo, copy & paste. How cool is that? I like to day-dream about just talking to my Storm (pseudo Klingon) without ever having to touch its screen again and putting smudges on it !

I don't use it much but still keep it around as it's simply really cool! Most of my transcriptions are spot on. I'm just amazed that my Bold has enough processing power to do this. Definitely a lot of potential here and great to show off to other people!
