per BGR front page. Could be sooner than later.

Visual Voicemail in new ATT OS
Via BGR, looks like ATT is going to be supporting visual voicemail on the Bold in OS 4.6.0.219. I know people have been seeing the app in beta OS releases, nice to see ATT is going to be supporting it in the near future (hopefully for free but doubt it). Can't post the link because of the 10 post thing, but go to boygeniusreport dot com and it's the first post

This is what I would like to know. I work for ATT and have not heard of this, but I am sure hoping it comes....soon! That is the only thing that I like about the Iphone over Blackberry. Right now I am using Fusion VM, which is nice(but does not show contact names). Did the screen shots come from regular users that upgraded to the Beta? I am going to install .219 and try it out.

I believe you will need either the visual vm added to your account and/or the service books pushed to your device. I was trying to get the service books (if there are any) from a verizon vvm user to see if I were able to get it then, but no one seems to have the service books for me.
I would expect a charge. Verizon is charging as well. I only say this as it is an add-on. For the iPhone, it was built in as the primary voicemail client.CrackBerry.com Mod | Retired Android Central Mod | Tech Enthusiast

i'm not sure that its included in the beta is it? but i guess that means that .219 will be the next official one we'll be getting. cant wait, i may have to search .219 down now.

Only way this comes sooner is if ATT rolls out VVM as a standalone application for download.
If it is part of a regular handheld software release it will be a much longer time.

iam on .219 and no problems

I'm on .217 and vymail and youmail are working great. I like how customizable youmail is with greetings and online retrieval of messages. I don't even know if I would use atts version if it were free.

Just because its on .219 doesn't necessarily mean that will be the next att OS release. Could just mean that the people from att are testing this release out. Most likely bugs will need to be worked out. No proof of this, but I think the reason we saw so many Beta leaks recently was because one of the major carriers was pushing for a new official release and the crackberry forums members posting about the OSs were being viewed by RIM as part of the Beta test. A lot cheaper way to get lots of data on the OS. Did anyone else notice that posting the Beta links suddenly became acceptable? Not saying there was any wrong doing or conspiracy. Its def a cost effective way to get more info on an OS from capable testers. I'd prob do it too. Just something I noticed. Can't wait for Visual VM thought. Better be free. Why r the iphone users better than us?

This is my concern as well.
The first time my brother left me a message via youmail/vymail this is what the beginning of his message said "dude, how does your voicemail know who I am?" And he has an iphone.
And it was the first thing he asked me about when I called him back.
Also, from the pics it looks like it opens the media player to playback the message. Not sure how I'm going to like that compared to the vymail UI, which is great, IMO. The only thing vymail lacks for me is being able to turn the volume even louder for when listening to vvm via the speakerphone. You can turn it up but not enough imo. Other than that I'm already happy.
If they charge for it I won't even try it, if it's free I'll give it a shot but go back to vymail unless I'm impressed. And if I remember right, the developer of vymail isn't even done with the app yet so it's only going to get better.Last edited by Marine One; 01-19-2009 at 10:44 PM.
