Updating Bold from OS 4.6 to 5

Hi Guys,
This is Bibhu from chennai India,
I got my bold 9000 from UK (T Mobile). Its unlocked and I am using Airtel. Can i use BB desktop manager to update the OS and will it still remain unlocked.

and my bb doesnt have a cam(corporate edition)....so will any update affect my device ?

Please help..
