update : my "blacked out" Bold
All parts from Truesupplier, and fit like a glove. I only switched the two bottom charging pins so i could charge the phone in the pod. So, what do you think ?

Like all "blacked out" or "whited out" BlackBerrys I find it entirely
too static and quite frankly boring. Glad you like it though. - 02-22-2010, 09:29 PM #5
nice job. looks sleek.

Never shopped there. Most supply companies have trackballs in any color that you want. I didn't get the black trackball because i wanted one that glowed. A colored one looks good in the pod as it stays on all night.

I welcome all criticism, whether good or bad. It is in a person's nature to "personalize" things that they like. Be it a tool, a vehicle, or a piece of equipment, everybody wants to make it their "own". I waited years to get my first Blackberry, and i wasn't dissapointed. Now, i've made it "mine", and i couldn't be happier. The same goes for people who change their themes every week, or even every day. If you enjoy it, and it doesn't hurt or offend anyone, then do it ! Semper fi !!!

That's the best way to be. There are a lot of posts about blacked out Bolds and most of them look the same, but as a fan of it, I give those users positive feedback. Everyone who does it posts because they are excited and want to share it with everyone else. You like what you like, right? I think it looks good. I'm waiting for parts to go back into stock so I can redo mine.

Nice job with it, I debated doing mine in all black, but I just love the standard, black and chrome look so much that I couldn't pull myself to do it.

I wasted so much money on making my blackberry different. I bought the white housing and all that kidna stuff, make it completely white. made the LCD under the keypad light blue. Looked hot as ****. But i wanted it to b normal again so i made it black lol. Im saving up for the new blackberrys coming out. No more wasting money. if anyone wants a pic of the white blackberry. let me know, ill gladly take a picture. I have to blackberry 9000's because the LCD screen broke on the old one, so i got a replacement lol.

I am awaiting my own housing for my bold...and was wondering if changing the charging pins were hard?
- 02-23-2010, 07:53 PM #17
Looks great. The red trackball really makes it stand out, but does it roll as easy and as comfy as the standard one?

It's not hard to change the charging pins, but you need to go slow and use a pair of tweezers. Gently pry up the part of the pin closest to the motherboard, and take it out with the tweezers. I really took my time, and changed the whole phone in under ten minutes. The guy on u-tube did it in under five minutes, so i didn't do too bad for the first time. Good luck, and may the Force be with you !!!

The red trackball works perfectly, and has a nice glow to it. I understand that the black trackball doesn't glow at all, which is why i went with a colored one.

They may look fragile, but they're not. Just take your time and lift them out gently over the little plastic posts that hold them in place.

When you click onto the u-tube link, there are other videos just to the right of the main one. Those will help you do whatever you want to your BB. I watched them all several times until i felt comfortable enough to try it on my own. Go slow and don't force anything. Let me know how it turned out.
