Unlocked Bold on Vodafone Italia
I have a BlackBerry Bold that I purchased and use with AT&T in the US. I called AT&T and asked for and received my unlock code which I entered and it works fine (tested with a TMobile SIM). I am in Rome, Italy studying abroad for a year and would like to use my Bold on Vodafone's network here in Rome. I purchased a prepaid SIM card and put it in and the phone makes outgoing calls fine. However, I would like to use Data such as sending/receiving emails, BBM, web applications (google maps, facebook app, appworld, etc.), MMS, and just search the web in general. At first when I tried to go on the BlackBerry browser it didn't work (just loaded and nothing came up). Then a day later I tried again and it worked and brought me to a vodafone live page. I can use the google search that (italian results only) is on that page but nothing else. If I try to manually navigate to a website, it will give me a message telling me that it can't connect.
How can I correct this to make my phone work like it did on AT&T only with Vodafone's network? Do I need to change my plan? Do something with the phone's settings? Is there another network that would work better here in Italy?
Any help would be appreciated.

What kind of data plan do you have and from what carrier exactly.

Afaik TIM is the only provider which offers a bb-service for prepaid cards. You may go to a local TIM-Store and ask for details. If you want to use any other provider you have to make a 2-years contract to get a bb-plan.

You can sign a contract with no continued obligation as long as you don't get a phone.
you can do that here in Spain at least. On VF too

I went to a TIM store and got a prepaid sim with data that I was told would support all of blackberries functions. It comes with 15mb/day for 30 days for 10 Euro. The internet seems to be working fine and I got the registration email from blackberry "Your handheld has been registered with the wireless network". At this point my email, BBM and any applications that use the data still arn't working.
Anyone have any other thoughts?
