UNABLE TO EAR RINTONES /ALERTS etc

i can see the whole list of ringtones....and simply does not make one sound...i check on of those ringtones, and nothing hapens, it vibrates, and it plays sound in media library, like my tracks...but when receive a call or someone texts me...no sound ! WHY???? =S BOLD 9000

please help !

I have the same problem. Did you have any luck fixing it? I've tried EVERYTHING. Still no ringtones but speakphone will play music.

There are two obvious causes for this. I've read about a software issue that is fixed with a wipe and OS reinstall. I have not experienced this so can't comment on it.

I started have problems with my ring tones and alerts about a year ago. The volume started diminishing and sometimes wouldn't work at all. I read about the plate next to the camera and elevated it with a screw driver as others have suggested. I also applied tape as others have done. Most of the time these tricks helped and the sound returned to normal for a while but then got quieter and eventually stopped working about 2 months ago. The voice speaker has always been fine. Clearly in my case the problem was a hardware issue with the tone/alert speaker..

The 9000 has two speakers. One for voice and the other for tones and alerts. The tone/alert speaker is built into the middle plate and cannot be replaced separately.

Because the phone is so old, finding parts is difficult. However, I located a brand new OEM middle plate at a well known supplier. With shipping it cost about $18. I replaced the middle board (took less than 5 minutes with Torx 5 tool - very simple).

Immediately the tone/alert sounds returned to normal and have been functioning perfectly since then. It sounds brand new.
