S/MIME and BlackBerry Internet Service
Is there any way how to configure S/MIME with BlackBerry Internet Service?
Through BES it is very simple, but what about BIS?
Thanks for responses. -

I know you have the option to install it within Desktop Manager, but that's as far as my knowledge goes for that. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I use to send e-mails with some sensitive information through S/MIME.
Now I have a BlackBerry Bold and only BIS and I don't know hot to configure S/MIME when I send e-mail from BB BIS.
So I'm asking...
How?

Thanks. - 02-17-2009, 06:43 AM

Someone previously confirmed that the BB S/MIME services are only available when using BES.
This is what RIM has to say on the subject: BlackBerry - BlackBerry | Wireless Handheld Devices, Software & Services from Research In Motion (RIM)
Atomic Helix has a solution for PGP which is supposedly intended for BIS customers (if that interests you at all, that is). Unfortunately, it's not free. - 05-10-2010, 03:57 AM #6
Bringing up an old thread but I think it might still be relevant for security conscious BlackBerry users.
We have just released our open source BlackBerry application which automatically encrypts all email sent to and from a BlackBerry smartphone with S/MIME. Djigzo for BlackBerry is BIS compatible.
Djigzo for BlackBerry is an add-on to the built-in BlackBerry mail application and should be used in combination with the Djigzo open source email encryption gateway. The most difficult part of email encryption is key management. Djigzo for BlackBerry therefore relies on the Djigzo gateway for most certificate management functions.
Some it's features:
* S/MIME encryption and digital signing using X.509 certificates.
* All email is protected with an encrypted S/MIME tunnel.
* Compatible with BIS.
* Compatible with existing S/MIME clients (like Outlook and Lotus Notes).
* Message body and attachments are encrypted. HTML email supported.
* Uses BlackBerry encryption functionality (3DES, AES, X.509, S/MIME).
* Compatible with the BlackBerry smart card reader.
* Messages are stored on the BlackBerry smartphone in encrypted form.
Djigzo binaries and source can be downloaded freely from our website. For more information see our website at www(dot)djigzo(dot)com

I'm having trouble installing S/MIME on my BlackBerry 9900 with BIS. The Certificate is coming up with a '?' mark against it.
Made a free certificate via trust center.de
http://www.trustcenter.de/en/product...nternet_id.htm
I figure out that i somehow need to tell the blackberry to look at a server to validate it somehow so i try to add it to certificate search.
