Potential Bold Ad of my own creation:

Technically, sort of a cross-post, but I wanted to put this in the Bold forum. I'm sorta proud of this.

I think that's the point kbrown. The fact that you use it a couple days and it's old already (which I don't believe but I gather that's the point). Plus, by the time the Bold is released the 3g iPhone will be months old! And if we're going on Verizon standards, maybe a year!!

Hah, this had 88 views with no replies. I realized after I made it that RIM had already come up with the "Be Bold" tagline. The "old" part was mostly tongue-in-cheek. Yes, the "new" iPhone is only a few days old, but the iPhone itself isn't.
The Bold will be the newest, most capable smartphone available, much closer to the iPhone's media capabilities than the iPhone is to the BlackBerry's messaging capabilities. It has a better, if not smaller, display, native iTunes sync, and more. The iPhone still kicks booty as a media and internet device, and multitouch on its huge screen is fantastic.
I don't really see these as competing devices, still, because they each excel in each other's weak spots. People will choose based on their priorities. The Bold is, however, closing the gap. The 9500 promises to potentially erase it altogether and be a true competitor to the iPhone. I think it's a poor decision on RIM's part to make it exclusive to Verizon, especially given Verizon's propensity to cripple devices and nickel-and-dime its customers to death.
I don't know about the scale of the photo. I ganked it from an old blog entry here on CB and made a quick and dirty edit with SnagIt! Editor.
Thank you to those who appreciate the effort. It is an exciting time to be a phone geek!

Fine print
Perhaps the fine print at the bottom could read:
I'll see ya when I see ya"Your manuscript is both good and original; but the part that is good is not original, and the part that is original is not good." - Dr. Samuel Johnson - 07-16-2008, 11:01 AM #13
