    Default OS 5.xx on AT&T

I have a BlackBerry Bold 9000 on AT&T. Would I be able to upgrade from 4.6 to the newest release of 5.0 without any problems? AT&T are for whatever idiotic reason not "approving" the 5.0 OS's so I'm not sure I will even get service with it.

you can upgrade to any 9000 OS you want to, official or not. just download it to your PC and then follow the commonly discussed OS upgrading procedures.

OS's are device specific, not carrier specific

I have a bold 9000 on at&t and after much waiting, did the OS 5.0.822 (after the 681) and it works great. Att will never know, but they won't be able to help if you need support ( never needed it). So. Be bold and free and do the upgrade

what are you talking about? they can still give you support. its not like apples and bananas. the two OS's are almost exactly the same. besides, OS upgrades dont void the phones warranty so upgrade/downgrade all you want.

Absolutely true, my friend. I recently had a problem with my trackball. Brought it to local AT T store. I'm running OS 5.0.882. They exchanged the unit no questions asked!
