When I was using AT&T's .167 - battery drain was at it's peak. The phone was constantly searching for a 3G signal (which as non-existant in the area where I live). Also my app memory was in a constant state of depleting itself. When I would turn on wifi - within minutes I could expect to have to do a battery pull.
When I upgraded to Rogers .282 all of those issues were resolved immediately. I did learn that the FaceBook app was causing some kind of a memory leak though - so I removed it and that problem was solved also.
I have learned that whenever I turn 3G on - the battery drain and memory problems return to some degree, but not nearly as seriously as before. These problems are most prevalent when I turn on wifi.
When I upgraded to Rogers .282 I was really desperate because school was about to begin and I couldn't spend my whole day obsessing about memory and doing battery pulls.
I am still wondering how the person who said they could turn 3G on and off while using ST&T's .167 - could do that. I was running AT&T's latest .167 and that option was nowhere to be found within that OS.
I find Rogers .282 to be a much more stabel OS for my Bold in every way. So - now I'm thinking that some 3rd party apps have to be the culprit of some of the problems stated here. Then again - it could be that my Bold just happens to like Rogers .282.
Peace....
