    Default Offcial 4.6.0.247 - upgrades/ enchancements thread

Hi, Sorry newbie to this forum.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why I should upgrade to 4.6.0.247 on my BOLD.

I know there's a sticky about the OS as a whole, but I'm looking for only what has been updated and improved and that info is not 100% clear when I read through the thread.

If this is redundant, please delete the thread.

    Thanks

This is very redundant.. The general consensus around here is just to do it. Most people see better battery life and better memory management, and they like the new shortcuts. I have noticed better responsiveness all around and much better battery life. The kicker for me is better radio reception by far. I seriously noticed about a 50% improvement in signal strength and quality. I used to drop calls in the same 2 spots on the way home every day, and I dont think I have dropped a single one since I upgraded. YMMV

the major new shortcut to this OS is the app switcher. hold the BB menu button and it pops up.

I just meant the holding the BB button to activate the app switcher and pressing to select.

Ah finally. Thats pretty good. Ive often (this may sound ridiculous, but true) had difficulty going into the app switcher when I only have one hand available.

I agree with everything Giant said. Especially the signal strength. I still get many dropped calls but not AS many.

Can you still use the "Alt + Back" combo?

By doing so, does it void the warranty?

Upgrading? No.. You can always* downgrade to the stock firmware level and take it in if you have issues.

*Of course by always, I mean usually.
