If you do an upgrade with newer versions of DM, you are asked to enter your email address which is where this comes from.
I received the wireless and email notices of this upgrade. I did the recent OS upgrade in early September that was subsequently pulled. That upgrade was platform 4.0.0.243 while this one is platform 4.0.0.247 which I assume fixes the network problems associated with the other upgrade.
I'm still running the 4.0.0.243 platform with no problems so i'm probably going to wait for 5x rather than risk messing things up. - 10-11-2009, 04:08 PM #27
I got it to. Went to wireless under options and got upgraded to: platform 4.0.0.247, app 4.6.0.297 (517). Didn't have issues from the last upgrade a few weeks ago. And thus far no issues with this one. Did upgrade from the phone.

Wow. Very confusing. Two days in for me since receiving this email and I have yet to find anything!! WTH!
Every time I think about a hot model with a pink curve I end up with blue bolds!!!!

I recieved the email, showed up as a blackberry icon on the top of my phone as a reminder to update after I read it, I clicked it and it was for v4.6.0.297, it gave me the option to "download now" or "schedule download" I downloaded and opted to wait for an afternoon download, after getting into a location with better coverage I decided to download, no problems since but I decided to check here to see what others had done, had to make some room on sytem to load. I had loaded last update which caused my phone to crash every 3rd or 5th day, very frustrating, was looking at upgrading to 5.0 but saw a few more bugs than I wanted, system has been holding and no hiccups- (yet) did backup just in case but wanted to be sure it was a ligit OS update from ATT. Not sure how to check memory loss, sorry. I had opted for upgrades to come via email. Hope others got this email too. Will update if system crashes or any severe problems occur in the next few days, also will see how battery does for me this week. Usually dont have the best battery life when it comes to using browser (I use BOLT- great app btw) and music/video player. Hope this helps.

Just as an update it loaded a gang of new apps in my downloads folder, just found them , unfortunately my bottom LCD display is cracked so I can"t read the app names, looks like BBM5.0 was also uploaded, gonna check with a manager at ATT and see what he says.

How can I move stuff to my memory card so I can get this update? - 10-14-2009, 11:11 AM #34

I have had this loaded on my Bold since the update came out. I've noticed more and more memory leaks than my prior OS. Anyone else noticed this?

Funny thing is that when I hit the option to update the core apps it is telling me to update, it plans to delete the BBM 5 as part of the process. I don't get why it would do that.

I just got a notification so I downloaded it but haven't installed it yet. I'm currently on 4.6.0.167 (platform 4.0.0.217). Dumb question (I know just enough to be dangerous) but when you update the OS does it wipe your apps and phonebook and all that? Do I have to save all my data prior to upgrading?

I tried to update to see what it says about bbm but it does not specify which version is will remove. Now I am hesitating because I do not want it to remove the current 5.o version for fear of messing it up or losing my contacts. Are you sure it removed the old bbm version? I always thought when you update an app to a newer version, it automatically deletes the previous version when it installs. Am I wrong to assume that the old version of bbm was deleted when I dl 5.0?Every time I think about a hot model with a pink curve I end up with blue bolds!!!!

BB Bold on ATT. Had a new icon last night. "Important OS Upgrade". Tried to do it over the network but it kept saying I needed to free up 9.4Mb.
Tried hooking up to laptop but BBdesktop said no updates available.
Gave up and went to bb.com. Found the link to upgrade OS. Found ATT specific download for Bold 9000. Ran the file, asked me to reboot. After restart, opened Desktop and tried "update applictions" again. It put the new OS on my device. Took an hour but it went smooth. went to bed and and woke up with new OS.
Now, who knows why I have a Visual Voicemail icon that ATT says they do not support on Bold?????
