New at bb bold have some questions.
Hi guys, I just got my bold and I was wondering if there is anyway to use the GPS and email without having data plan. Can someone let me know?
Thanks - 01-20-2009, 10:05 AM #2
You can use them when you have a wifi connection I believe, but otherwise I don't think so.

If you want to get the most out of your bold you should have a data plan. You can even choose a pay as you use bb data plan. But if you don't wanna have a data plan, then wifi is the only option I guess.
Welcome to CB.

The Data plan will help you with a lot of stuff, i believe picture messeaging, email, and a couple of great things.

i suppose u could use wifi for GPS
as for emails, u could use wifi if u are not looking at push mails
push mail support requires a data plan specifically the BIS
but if u just wanna check emails and all, a wifi connection is sufficient"They may take our lives, but they can never take OUR CRACKBERRY!" - 01-20-2009, 10:18 PM #7
How do you check email with wifi? My emails are no longer push because I dont' have the data but what do I need to do to get them? Also, OZ IM...is it using data or would it come off of my messenging plan...we have unlimited texting, etc. ?

you need to at least have the pay-per-use Media Net on your account... if you called (cust. service) to completely block your internet connection (WIX Block) then you won't be able to use OZ... the initial connection (logging in) for OZ does have to connect to the internet (AT&T won't charge for this)... after that it's just SMS...Blackberry Bold 9700
