What apps are you running?
Do you have ON for 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth?
Mileage will vary, but in most cases you should have 40% or more battery come evening.

Pretty normal for a heavy user.

Real post....
ive had the phone for 11 days now, upgraded os to .247, unbranded using a different vsm, and, worst of all, i have broken the warranty seal because i blacked the bold out... - 01-30-2009, 02:11 PM #6
I leave my house at 9am after a full, overnight charge. I go to work, hit the gym, and maybe get back anywhere from 10-11PM. Sometimes I come back where the battery is so low that the radio turns off. I'd kill to have what you're getting on normal use.

Usually if my battery meter happens to fall below 35%, if I'm out and about. I'd force my phone to Edge to conserve power until I can get to a charger.

I'm on my BB all day and depending on what I'm doing it almost always lasts me. If you use your phone a lot take advantage of a spare battery, just leave it in your office or your car if you ever need it.

Do a battery pull and give it a full charge, see if that helps you out.

bout the same for me...if i have wifi and 3g on and muck around with the phone/internet for a while, it'll probably last a day at most.
Turning off WiFi and bluetooth help a lot especially if I don't play with the phone too much. It'll last near 3 days with just normal TMs and calls this way. - 01-30-2009, 03:29 PM #14
Well those of us w/ AT&T would switch to EDGE if the idiots @ AT&T hadn't taken that option away.... morons!

Ohh...I was wondering if I'd overlooked that option entirely-never saw it before. I'm on atnt's bold so I don't hv that feature I suppose. I usually get about 1 days use but I tried conserving my usage for a week, with light browsing and all and eeked out abt 48 hrs with 25% left. Usually I'd go as low as 15% daily from browsing and weak signals. Downgraded to .210 btw which users claim provide GREAT life.

i still to this day can't figure out WHY they would want to take that option away from the users. what is the problem with us choosing to use EDGE or choosing to only use 3G?!??!?

Your battery duration is probably within the expected range.
The life of a battery charge is governed by many factors, but ISTM the main issues to get good duration are:
Avoid data applications which create continuous exchange of traffic. The main suspects seem to be streaming and realtime web applications like Viigo and Twitter clients.
Use Standby mode when the phone is not in active use, either by pushing the mute button or using a case or holster with a sleeper magnet.
Try to stay within strong signal areas for the band in use. My experience over 3 months shows that a strong 3G signal gives better life than a weak 2G signal at the same locations. (I have a local 3G fill-in mast but 2G is more distant). The system will innstruct the phone to increase power if the tower reports a weak signal, and this can increase battery discharge by around 100x
The most significant drain on battery is due to the phone simply staying in contact with the cellular system, particularly when signals are weak.
To give an exaple from direct observation. At home (close to cell tower with almost perfect signal) and no phone use the battery will deplete by about 60% during 12 hours standby. About 3 hours of phone usage (voice calls) will use about 20% of the charge capacity.
Last week I was working about 8 miles offshore on a ship. We were within range for 2G and 3G signals, but the steelwork often blocked the path and on a few days the full charge was gone in about 6 hours standby. Working a weak signal, or no signal and searching, killed the battery faster than any active usage I have seen. - 01-30-2009, 05:30 PM #21
This is why I bought a 3600 mAh battery. Makes the unit thicker (but my stubby fingers actually like it. The deep well for the camera optics is a handy place to stick my index finger and hold the unit steady as I type. More to the point, I never run out of battery power.
I kept the OEM battery and generally give it an hour in the charger on Sunday's to make certain my spare tire always has air.

I love the option to switch from 3G to 2G incase of a situation like this.
