Question My BB turns on and then goes off! Please advice

    Hi,
Guys i got a BB 9000 from a friend and i've had this problem from day 1. The phone turns on shows the hour glass for sometime then comes up shows the normal screen and then goes blank and the red light on top flashes couple of times. If you wait a bit the BB comes on and does the same thing again. I've looked around and saw the tutorial on reinstalling OS on nuked BB. Installed DM and OS on my PC and started the apploader but nothing comes up on the connection tab. Its supposed to show COM1 and then USB Unknown but it doesn't show either. Donno what else to try. For the time being the only use i have for this BB is that of a paper weight, hope someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Hey. Had a friends blackberry that had the same problem. What I did to fix it, I downloaded the Os, n did a software reinstall via apploader(not desktop manager). With apploader screen on, you restart the phone, when the red lights on...quickly connect the phone & run apploader & try to force the reload.

Its most likely an app that's malfunctioning & making the phone to be unstable.

    Tell me how it goes.....

I tried this (removing 'small battery" fix and initially it didn't work with my device. That's when I noticed that the housing screws on my device are loose. Took just a bit of tightening and viola - my device is working again!

So, you may want to check if you have any loose screws (on your device, I mean! ), just as I had some (on my device, I mean!). Hopefully a T4 (or T5) screwdriver is all you need to make it work in conjunction with the 'small' battery fix.

Leave some feedback after trying to tighten those screws, please.

Have you tried a new battery. Something similar happened to my 8330 and 9650. On the 8330 it was the battery and on the 9650 it was the charger. Both phones were fine. After replacing the battery and charger, I had no more problems from either phone

Thank you all for the replies, turns out it was the USB chord that was creating the problem. As a BB newbie i didn't know BB only works with BB original USB cables. It works now! had to buy a new cable all is well now..Thank you for trying to help guys!
NOTE :- FOR ANYONE WHO IS NEW TO BB WORLD, YOUR BB ONLY WORKS ON BB USB CABLES

Well done! I feel your pain, I had the same issue with using the wrong cable with my BB, it was a really frustrating couple of hours before I realized my mistake. Enjoy your BB!
