As far as track it no. But they can suspend service and reassociate all information on the BB main server to your new phone.

No you cannot track it... It is possible but Rogers will NEVER do it for you.

The best you can do is have the pin blocked and cancel your sim. That way whoever finds it or has it won't be able to use BB-specific services and will need to unlock the phone and use another sim if they want to use it to call or message.

    They can.

Will they is the real question. Try going to your local Police dept. Maybe a sympathetic officer could ask them to do it for you.

Privacy issues and red tape my friend... You forget we live in Canada where everything is a hassle when it comes to people's rights.

Roger's isn't going to admit to the fact that they track everything you do and where you go. It takes them less than 1 second to see where your phone is, if it's connected to Rogers' Network.

And besides, as horrible as it sounds you are only one person in their eyes and you already have another phone. They don't want to go through the hassle. If you were Stephen Harper, the punk who has it would already be behind bars.

If I were you, i would call up Rogers and have them connect you to RIM to cancel the pin so you dont have to pay to do it. That way that guy won't be able to use GPS, BB-push specific things, BBM etc...

Why can't someone write a program that allows BB owners to track their rigs online ,I mean these machines do have gps

Because there are invasion of privacy issues. A lot of us have posted our PINS online...if there was some third party app that can track that, what's to stop people from searching where we are?

Or let's say a potential stalker/ex-boyfriend knows the pin and info of his girlfriends phone, if Rogers would allow you to call up and track phones, how would they distinguish from the real owner whose phone it is?

I mean my girlfriends phone is under my account, and so does that give me the right to call up rogers and track where she is.

And besides, another reason is vigilanteism. What's to stop you and 10 of your boys going to the theif's house and bashing his face in?

Best you can do is call up your local PD, have them note the PIN and other info. so that in case he sells it or something they MIGHT catch him though highly unlikely.

Well I thoutht - heard a story of a stolen apple laptop ,and the owner was actually watching the thief via the cam.
I guess I care more for my belongings than the supposed privacy of others

And you just sold it to someone. Hense how would they know your the real owner?

It sucks losing a phone, but from the company stand point it is not their problem.
Posted by my device of choice. Might be a BlackBerry, might not be. It is of no concern to you.

Gadgettrak has a software w/c can track your lost/stolen phone. Not only it can track the location of your stolen phone through gps, you can also wipe out all its contents, erase the contacts, lock your phone, activate alarm, all done remotely.

I have it on my macbook.

rogers has no motivation to help you find your phone - in fact, the complete opposite.

you - 1 phone = you buying another phone at full retail price (meaning they don't lose money on the subsidy).

smrtguard would allow you to track it via GPS amoung other things, i would report your IMEI to as many carriers as you could.

Another one of these threads? All that software is useless once the other person wipes the phone. Just chalk it up to a lost phone and be done with it. No one is going to start an investigation over a lost or even a stolen phone unless some major crime was committed. A password will protect your data so the other person MUST wipe it in order to use it and that's all you should be worried about.

Another option is Berry Locator. Have that on my Bold and my friend's Curve. Makes racket and flashes if you've lost it at home. It will also email you a GPS map of where it is. Not that expensive.
