Default LCD Display Problem, but not the Screen Itself

Recently, the trackball on my Bold 9000 stopped scrolling down, so I took apart the phone, removed the LCD, and swabbed out the trackball to get it working again.

When I reassembled the phone and turned it back on, the screen immediately started cutting in with wild colors during the loading screen, sometimes going completely white. The screen worked fine once everything was loaded, but this was only temporary. Soon, more crazy colors were coming on the phone, screen images were reversed, the TV static stuff would pop up, etc (see attached pic). Certain keys or button sequences would get the phone to normal, but it was always coming back. I just assumed the connection was loose or something.

Fast forward 2 days later, and at this point the screen is in a constant white. The phone itself is still working, as I'm constantly taunted by the vibration notifications of messages I can't read.

Figuring something happened to the LCD in the disassembly/reassembly of the phone, I ordered a new LCD screen offline. It arrived today, I changed it out, and the problem persisted as there's only a completely white screen still. So apparently the LCD is not the problem.

Has anybody else ever experienced this or know how to fix it? Is something wrong with the motherboard? I was planning on getting a new Blackberry in May, so I guess I wouldn't be too put out just getting a new one, but I was just wondering if anybody had any tips that would help me delay the purchase for a little bit longer.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. In retrospect, I should have just left the trackball alone, haha.

My partner has the bold 9000 and her track ball stopped functioning and scrolling down. I took out the old one cleaned board and replaced with a new coloured one but i never had to remove the screen to do this. Puzzled as to why you did???
I think you may have damaged the board in all honesty, i say this because i repair phones as a side income / hobby and what you have described was something i encountered not so long ago, bad news is i for the first time in ages was not able to fix instead i bought the phone off the individual and harvested it for spares (i.e. housing, buttons, trackerball, and surprisingly the LCD which actually worked fine which led me to believe it was the board in the first place. I know this doesn't really help but you could sell the spare parts to put towards a new phone.

Bad connector(s) on the PCB; you probably broke it/them. Could just be loose.

I had the EXACT same issue, purchased a second hand screen of eBay (£10) replaced mine and its working fine again.

I did read a bunch of posts ranging from dirty contacts to static between the board/screen/keypad etc, after cleaning everything, and using insulation tape it wasn't resolved so I stumped up the cash for another screen and touchwood its still going well!

Having a similar issue. What happens is the screen looks like that periodically, but if I press a menu or something then it clears. Doesn't matter what app is running it still does so and then I have to clear it and go back.

Phone works fine other than the problem shown. Thinking that maybe I should take it apart and check the connections or clean them out with 90% alcohol and see if it helps. Any other suggestions from anyone else?

Good it's your hobby and better don't make a full job for it.
As I read your post I think what kind of phone repair can not change the lcd connector at the board.
I fix phones for living and had a lot people, when they take out there lcd they damage there lcd connector.
With a special hot blower I can solder the little pins.
Most with this kind of problems 1 of the pins is taken of from the board, with some pasta I put it back with a hot blower.
    Problem resolved.

I guess that means you have a hot air rework station. Wish I had that as it would make life easier. Cleaned up the connector with 90% alcohol and no change - guess that means I need a hot air rework station or heat gun with small nozzle to do this then......

Try to remove the housing and make sure the cable flex from the LCD is properly installed to the PCB board,

You can watch a YouTube Video on how to replace the parts, to make sure you do it properly.
