Default I was sold a Bold Test UNIT!!! What can I do?

I have been having trouble getting my data plan to work on my bold and it turns out that I bought Bold through ebay that served as a test unit before they released it!!! I am disputing with paypal to get my money back. My question is, will RIM help on resolving this by confirming that it's a test unit? Has anyone run into this problem? Help!!!!

Good luck on getting your problem resolved. RIM should be able to support your claim that the unit is or is not a test unit. You just have to contact them and see. I hope it all works out for you.

If RIM locked the PIN because it was a "pre-release" or "test" unit they will not unlock the PIN because theoretically (and even though you had no knowledge) it was an unauthorized purchase of the unit. Disputing the transaction with PAYPAL is a good start... If you used your CC to fund the purchase through PAYPAL I would also suggest you dispute the transaction through your CC company as well.

This is strictly between you and the seller. RIM will write you a polite letter saying you're on your own, then begin ignoring you. I've seen it before. Dispute the sale with PayPal, eBay, and anyone else involved in the transaction.

Same here! I got screwed out of a couple of hundred and the crap that was sent to me when I sent it back for a refund. Had all the information backing me up presented my case, and had shipping info, pics, and still got turned down by paypal and ebay. Lesson learned. Buying non-ebay phones if need be.

That's disappointing to hear. You are saying you lost your dispute despite the evidence you had? I hope that don't happen to me...
