The Vendor XML file is the file on the OS that tells the Desktop Manager what specific carrier-branded device you have. When the vendor xml is removed or is empty, the OS will load to ANY device of the SPECIFIC model that the OS is for, REGARDLESS of the carrier.
On your PC, all you would have to do is delete the "Vendol XML" file. You can find it by going to (if using Windows XP/Vista/7 32-bit): computer/C:/program files/common files/research in motion/apploader. You then look for the vendor xml file (usually on the bottom).
If using Windows Vista or Windows 7 64-bit, you go to: Computer/C:drive/Program files (x86)/common files/Research in Motion/Apploader. You then look for the Vendor XML file & simply delete it.
Sometimes there's other Vendor XML files that is located in the following areas:
C:/Documents and Settings/*name*/AppData/Roaming/Research in Motion/Blackberry/Loader XML
C:/Documents and Settings/*name*/Application Data/Research in Motion/Blackberry/Loader XML
You can also simply do an ADVANCED search for VENDOR XML and delete EVERY copy that it finds.
