Also be sure to set tcp configurations in Options > Advanced Options > TCP. APN should say wap.voicestream.com Nothing under user name or password.

Default UMA and 3G

Is your unlocked Bold running on T-Mo able to make calls thru UMA? If I am using one in Chicago, where Tmo has 3G up & running, will it work on their 3G network? Thanks.

It will not work on their 3g network. AT&T/Rogers and T-Mobile use different frequencies for 3g, they are not interchangeable.

To access UMA (hotspot@home) you will need the official T-Mobile operating system installed and the wifi chip in the phone must be compatible. So UMA is also a no go.

You sure about that? Doesn't an unlocked At&t 8120 get UMA calling on T-Mobile?

Does anyone knows why this could be happening?

Thanks
Is that all you did? I still can't turn edge to EDGE. I can run my browser with tzones but not with internet browser. Any help?

Yep, I have no idea why, but it worked. I have been using it perfectly since.

Good luck.

edge (lower case) means that it can connect to t-mobile's data network, but not to the blackberry servers. Typically resending service books or reregistering it on the network fix the issue. Call t-mobile blackberry support, they will make an effort to help people using unlocked blackberries.

AFAIK no. It is firmware limitation that not even flashing the t-mobile OS on the device will fix. I havnt personally verified this though.

Wow. I guess I had assumed UMA was just a T-mobile provider feature. That could be a Bold no go for me as I get poor signal at my home and rely on UMA since I haven't had a land line in 10 years. Well Sh!t. Can someone who has gotten there Bold fully going on T-mo confirm there is no UMA?

I tried for the last couple hours to make UMA work, and it doesn't look like it will. I have tried a couple different service book attempts too with nothing.
