Sweetheart, just Google "Logmaid". No need to wait for someone to post a link. But, since you did, here's the link.

The link is below. Says it will work on any BB. I can't vouch for it yet as I haven't installed it myself, but I will in 3 . . 2 . . 1 . .

Does Memory Cleaner (Options>Security Options> Memory Cleaning) clean out the logs?

Okay, totally noob question here, what's the big deal about having a "log", does it slow the device down or anything like that?
- 05-15-2009, 11:28 AM #18
There is little to no benefit from clearing the logs. Its not even worth the time involved. It might reclaim 0.001% (or something extraordinarily minimal) of your memory when you do it.

Actually I believe it frees up a bit more 0.001%. That file, if allowed to run rampant can be massive. Log Maid is a perfect fix because it just does it very quietly in the background, as if it was never there. Works great... Just a little piece of mind.

It takes a LONG time for it to get totally out of control though. The log is just a txt file. I'd imagine if you set it only to log warnings and cleared it once or twice a week it would never have gotten as big as an app for clearing it... certainly not big enough to affect performance in that amount of time.
Discalaimer: I haven't done extensive enough size testing to know for sure, because I actually USE the log. Whenever I have an issue I'm investigating on my Bold, I clear the log, try to reproduce my problem, aand then check the log again to see what it's recorded to see if there are clues there. So my event log is never very big and even with Log Maid I'd still be doing manual clears. Definitely no need for such an app on my phone so perhaps my initial conjecture above was formed on biased opinions.

There is no harm in clearing your log file? I have had my Bold since January and never cleared it.

Try it and see how much less the hour glass shows up
Also i just DLed logMaid but i still kept my quickpull for soft resets and morning resets. - 05-15-2009, 06:39 PM #23
From what I've seen most of the people that have issues with the event log are 8330 users anyways, probably due to the much lower resources available.
But I use logmaid anyways. It doesn't hurt anything so might as well.My website http://papped.webatu.com - 05-15-2009, 06:48 PM #24
