Press and hold the key you wish to assign and when it prompts you, enter 911.

I would think having it on speed dial would increase the changes of making accidental emergency calls.

911 is intended for quick use as it is, you might gain a fraction of a second with speed dial.

Its only 3 digits 9-1-1, why bother to make a speed dial for it?

When you're in a panic sometimes it can be hard to press 911 and send. Pressing and holding one particular key would be better. However, I would only assign this on a full keyboard, not the Pearl.

    Just my opinion tho.

When you are in a panic, you won't remember to hit your pre programmed number. Your brain will tell you to dial 9-1-1

Pre programming 9-1-1 into your cell phone just makes ny job harder. My agency takes over 500,000 9-1-1 cell phone calls, and 65% of those calls are phones that dial 9-1-1 accidentally.

I was in emergency twice and I forgot the number. It took me several seconds to recall 911.
