How do i down grade os???

Hi

How do i downgrade my os tried yesterday and it came up with some error and i luckily got my bold working again. I tried to go back to .162 as that is what my phone on O2 in the UK came with. There is one i can go lower to i think it is .134 that comes up on my desktop manager. Should i downgrade to that and back up again. I want to try this and see if i can get my tom tom 720 working properly again.
