how to display japanese/chinese language/symbol

Just wondering what to do to get Japanese/Chinese symbol on my Bold? A few of my friends have Japanese symbol for their BBM user but only appear like blocks on my BB.

Probably install chinese/japanese input cod files I'm assuming? You know when you install an OS and usually only english (us/uk) input is selected.

Wouldnt it be because ur OS is English version, not like ur friends are multilanguage?

I don't think so, I have a multilanguage OS and only english selected so I see thos blocks as well.

Yes you'll need to install an eastasia version of the os. Multilanguage isn't enough as it only has western europe languages. I've got easasia .282 but can't quite remember where I got. I'll find a link to it when I get on a pc.

I downloaded "BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.517 (EastAsia) " for AT&T from RIM's web site. Now I can not only read but also type Japanese flawlessly!

You may want to check with the "BlackBerry Handheld Software (EastAsia) " specific to your carrier.

This software should have both language system and input system for Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc.

Just install east asia os from sticky
