| | Croe, I have a quick question. I can't seem to be able to get the selection mode to stick to manual or to keep, say, GERAN diabled. Every time I cloe the screens and go back in everything goes back to the way it was (automatic with GERAN and UTRAN both enabled). Any ideas on how to solve that? I'd like to be able to stay on 2G for a while as a test. Many thanks for all the great info!

Just did it and it works, but its too much to have to go to the E-Screen every time to switch back and forth, plus a battery pull un-does everything so thats a hassle... Debranding here I go |

Can anyone advise???? | You can do it from the BlackBerry browser on your device. As reCAPTCHA doesn't work properly on the BB Browser, I disabled it for requests coming from the BB Browser.

Originally Posted by nomadpass Seems like this trick isnt working for 99% of the people posting .... | I'm not sure if I agree with your calculation. murphdsurf was having trouble with the reCaptcha on Thyth's site, but Thyth has addressed that since then. Lots of people had questions, but I don't see very many people at all saying "this doesn't work for me." On the contrary, I see a lot of people that say it does work for them. I'm not trying to sell anyone on the idea of trying this, just letting people know, and with screenshots to prove it, that it DOES work. Take it or leave it, and ask here if you have specific questions that one of us might be able to help with.

It worked perfectly. I updated the first post with some more screenshots and a FAQ section. I'm glad this seems to be helpful info for some of you. I can't believe the number of questions and PMs it has generated just in the time that I've been at work! I hope to have answered all of your questions so far.
I will try to update the first post in this thread as often as necessary to keep it as accurate and informative as possible. If there are things you think need to be added or edited, or if you have questions you'd like to see answered in the FAQ section, keep posting them here.
Thanks y'all!

Will doing this completely disable the 3G radio? I want it completely off. I know it'll stick to a 2G signal, but I want 3G completely off.

The easiest way for me to explain it as I understand it, is that the reason it sticks to the 2G signal is because you're turning off the phone's capacity to attempt accessing 3G frequencies. It's temporary, but it seems to be complete.

At which step? On Thyth's site? Are you including the space and part in parentheses? Perhaps Thyth has some thoughts.

If the app version you enter into the generator isn't an exact match from what you see in the BlackBerry help screen, the generated code won't work. For this reason, I have stringent data entry format requirements. If the generator is giving you an error message about an invalid OS version, you didn't put in a complete OS version (space, parentheses, and all).
It's better for you to get an error message than it is for you to get a useless code and wonder why it doesn't work.

Especially since an incorrect code isn't going to throw an error message of any kind on the Berry. I figured that error was probably something you built into your page, but I am not familiar with the possible error messages you built in so I wasn't sure. Thanks for the clarification.
