Default Help dead screen blinking led

I just received a used blackberry bold 9000. I still have not been able to turn it on, it is black with a blinking led light (which only shows when plugged in to either the wall charger or USB). It blinks once (red) and then three times very quickly. I can not wipe the hardware because my computer does not recognize the device. Is there anyway to fix this? I do not want to return it if I can easily fix it. Please help

Check for water damage by removing the battery. If the paper is discolored or shows up as pink or red, you have been sold a lemon.

Take the battery out for a FULL 24 HOURS
The phone should re-start when you return the battery

    Then reload the OS

If you can't wait the 24 hours, What I did, was plug it in to the computer and just restored mine. It recognized it instantly, And allowed me to restore.

My computer does not recognize the device, or even realize that anything is plugged in. I tried more than one computer, the problem happened with all.

I also read someplace that the blinking is code for a fried memory, which is not fixable. Does anyone know if that is true?

Gino, I don't think there's a solution other than to throw that thing at a wall to let out your frustration that it's dead.

I was just about to say try a new battery. Worked for me on my original Bold years ago. Not sure why it went belly up so fast, and still can't figure out why there isn't enough juice through USB to at least power it and let you realize the battery is toast when unplugging it.
