Found a (new?) Vendor.xml location in Windows 7
I thought I'd post this, as I have had trouble upgrading my OS on Windows 7. I found 'Vendor.xml' at the usual location, but also here:
Deleting from the above location, as well as the usual location @:Code:C:\Users\<myUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Allowed the upgrade to proceed, FINALLY.Code:C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
SUCCESS!!
[EDIT]
You can rename the 'Vendor.xml' file(s) to 'Vendor.renamed', which will allow you to keep the files, but the software won't see them!Last edited by glossywhite; 09-11-2011 at 11:00 AM.

Awesome! I used vendelete (automatically scans you hdd in a few min and dels all vendor files) but this works too.

You can download a small program called Vendelete, it scans your whole pc and deletes vendor files.
Works like a charm.

Found a (new?) Vendor.xml location in Windows 7
I realize this is an old thread, but it does have some good info. I thought I'd share a tip that I've used for a while now.
Open up and edit all the vendor files (with notepad or some-such) and delete/clear the file, then save it. Right-click the vendor file and choose properties, and check the "Read Only" box and hit Apply/OK.
This has worked for me on Windows 7 for both vendor files. Surprisingly, Installing an updated OS doesn't write to the file. I would have thought it would delete the old vendor files and write new ones.
But whatever it's doing, this seems to stop it.
Your mileage may vary, of course.

If the update deleted the files, there would be no need to do so ourselves. By editing the file, you've removed the "offending entry". It's just simpler to delete.
