Firmware update ?
Hi , my first post on the forum , hope someone can help
Im not very technically minded at all and so if anyone can help - a slow explanation for dummies would be greatly appreciated
Got someone to change the trackball for me and since its been put back together the screen is playing up and pretty much unusable, sometimes its perfectly visable and readable , more often than not its displaying back to front , upside down , side on , fuzzy and of no use at all.
Its been suggested that a firmware update would sort it out for me , how do i do this , is it the OS upgrade that im reading about above ? Or is that something totally different , is there a way of just restoring to factory settings or am i being stupid and that wouldnt update or help it either ?
If there is a solution can it be done on the PC / Laptop screen as the Blackberry screen doesnt really stay stable enough for me to read and work with ?
Im in the UK and on O2 if that makes any difference
Thanks in advance for any help , next stop after here is the dustbin

It actually sound hardware related rather than software, but you can try updating software first. Need to know what OS version you are running. Press the menu button (left of the trackball) and find the Options icon (looks like a wrench, it could be in the Settings folder). In options, click on About and post the contents of the 3rd line, which will be the OS applications version and platform version in parentheses.

First mistake, why upgrade components if nothing is wrong. If you are not tech minded...LEAVE IT ALONE...Second you let someone else, not from your Carrier, do it for you.
Sorry to be harsh, but this sounds hardware related. No software will fix this. Try taking apart again and tightening up screws and such. I suggest you take it to your Carrier and see what the techs can do.
Learn your lesson......................Don't fall prey to all these cosmetic doo-dad-BS threads.Last edited by mke67; 10-08-2009 at 06:40 PM.
