A few problems...
Ok just got my new bold and to be fair I have never had a blackberry before in my life so I am not sure where to start.
First of all I tried to bluetooth all my contacts from my ericson to my berry and it didn't work so I have just done them all by hand
Next I want my pictures and videos and music over to it but it wont let me bluetooth it, keeps saying connection failed but I dont know why.
I also dont have any idea how to set my ring tone message tone or profile settings etc and the rubbish manual that came with the phone doesn't help either...
Theres going to be many more questions to come as I am just starting to play with it now

This is a good place to start.
When you are sending something to your phone via BT, go into your Media and select Receive Using Bluetooth from the Menu.
To change any notifications, go to Profiles, scroll to the bottom and click Advanced, click on Normal (Active), and click what you would like to change, you'll see all the options.
These are fairly broad answers, just come back if you need further clarification.Tronyx's Important & Popular Blackberry Links (This one is worth the visit, Kids)

Couple of other questions, I'll state first of all that I am on orange.
When I try and go onto my browser I get a message saying that its a wifi service and their isn't a wifi setup doe, the problem is should it not work on 3g?
Secondly, does anyone know how to transfer contacts from an ericson to a berry via bluetooth, can it actually work, a colleague has the same phone going to a berry as well but would take forever to do all the contacts one by one.
And, next on text messages, when I click on messages or SMS&MMS it doesn't take me into the unread messages or the inbox it seems to sit with the last message I had open, the only way I seem to get back to the general inbox is clicking menu, open folder, SMS inbox... Is there a way around this? - 03-21-2009, 11:30 AM #7
Hi there, you really need to read your manual and it does tell you how to do all of this. Sit and play with the fun and you will get used to the menus and set ups etc. I have just changed from a Nokia to Blackberry and to be fair it does take a fair bit of reading and playing to get used to it. But, got to say it is absolutely fantastic and I would never ever move away from my best friend my Blackberry !!!

Wifi has nothing to do with 3G. Go to browser>options>general properties>and scroll to internet browser and click. This is how to get on the internet using 3G and a data plan. If you have wifi in your home or work and know the key code then go to manage connections and follow the prompts to set up wifi. Wifi is faster than 3G internet browser.

Hi newboldman, welcome to CrackBerry! SmashFace has already saved newbies a lot of time by creating an excellent thread titled: Just Got Your Bold? READ THIS FIRST. It is so useful that a moderator here at Crackberry Forums chose to make it a "Sticky". That means that it will always remain on top for easy access to all, instead of becoming buried in the myriad of posts that happen here every day. If you do not have, or lose access to the original User Guide, the post links to an online copy. Please take your time and read it carefully. It will take some time, but in the long run it will save you many headaches. It along with all of the other Sticky posts at the top of this forum will answer many of your questions about the Bold.
