Few issues on my Bold
Hello, few months ago i've installed the leak OS 5 on my bold, and i've had no issues what so ever. Yesterday, i've wiped my phone and got rid of the Rogers screen when u turn the phone on. thats when all my problems started
1st issue, Now i cant connect to my DM. when i try to connect it gives me this error message "Failed to connect to the device. Please make sure that the deivce is properly connected and try again". I got the same message when i used a different computer. I've went thru all troubleshooting that was posted here and on blackberry website. So i downgraded to 4.6 and i was able to connect to DM. Then i updagred to OS 5.0.0.348 now i have the same error.
2nd issue, for some werid reason. Now when i press the letter "Y" the letter "Z" comes up. and, when i press the letter "Z" the letter "Y" comes up
i had this issue with OS 4.6 and OS 5. I've wiped the phone still the same problem
3rd issue, i cant type the number "0" cant type it in sms, mms, BBM, not even when im trying to dial a number
i was told there are two types of keypad for blackberry, it might of changed to the other one.
Please help, i would like to keep using OS 5

maybe you should delete the 4.6 o.s you have installed on your computer before updating to new 5.0 o.s

i deleted OS 4.6 and 5 and i downloaded a fresh os 4.6 that is made for Rogers Bold and it didnt solve the problem for the keypad
what about the error message for DM? any ideas? - 01-16-2010, 11:04 PM #6
did you enable mass storage mode?
or maybe you are using the 4.6 desktop manager instead of the 5.0 desktop manager. install the 5.0 desktop manager and use it to update 5.0 os. - 01-16-2010, 11:05 PM #7

hmmm, well technically if your phone is rogers branded from the begining, then the whole y and z issue shouldn't exist. because usually the qwertz keypad comes from european phones. Im really unsure of what would of caused your phone to change up like that but im guessing you debranding the phone had a major part to do with it, i dunno if rogers would reinstall their vendor software again on the phone, i guess you should call and find out. sorry im not of much help. did you buy the phone brand new from rogers or was it used?

This is one consequence of using software without knowing the actual impact of your actions.
In order to "Unbrand" a BlackBerry, a pirated program is used to install code that has been modified or extracted from another device.
In this case, your code was obviously extracted from a German model.
Will Rogers fix it for you? Not a chance, you have voided your warranty by modifying the software.
Now you know better, don't do that to your next BlackBerry. That is heavy price to pay just to remove the Red and White Rogers startup screen. - 01-17-2010, 11:21 AM
