Default Disaster with 9000 bold At&t on rogers. HELP! Canada

I bought a phone on Ebay. I thought it would be a Rogers phone and unlocked. Turned out it was an AT&T phone and NOT UNLOCKED!.

I went to shop around places to get unlocked and they told me that it would not work on 3g networks... and id have to use it on 2g networks or something like that.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

Well just buy the unlock code from ebay, it costs around $3 - $5 CAD. Once it is unlocked, I think you should be able to use the 3G network. I did the similar thing with my friends Bold and it worked like a charm.

If it is an AT&T Bold it should work with Rogers' 3G network. They use the same bands. Just unlock it. Plenty of unlocking services on eBay

They said you wont be able to use it on 3G Rogers? Thats complete BS. I bought mine straight from AT&T awhile ago, unlocked it, used it on Rogers for a few months then i switched to Telus and using the Bold on 3G Telus. I had no problems with the networks or the phone.

It will work just fine, just get it unlocked. Let us know if you need it unlocked.

At&T are on the same bands as Rogers for 3G so you will get 3G speeds. As for unlocking its is really easy to do and will only cost a few bucks. I just unlocked my via cellunlock.net. They have 50% off coupons that you can do a search on as well. Regardless of who you use to unlock it, I think it beat the hassle of going after the seller. Good luck.

I have an att bold, unlocked. Wouldn't work on 3g with newer SIM cards. Had to put on Rogers OS to turn on 2G service only (not an option with att OS). Got an older sim card, can't remember that part number, and now it works on 3g. Rogers reps will tell you that using the older sim is not recommended and some may say it won't work, just tell them to activate it, it will work.

Is this the same case for a Bold 9700? cause it seems to be an issue to unlock blackberries without the 3040 sim card

More or less you need the 3040 SIM card. Very few do not.
