Broke my Bold over to Iphone
Got a question my bold went swimming in the cat's water bowl. Well its dead, I have insurance, so that is not the problem. I put my bold sim in my iphone 3g, all works well. no problems. Even csr at att told me it would work. I got a test message from att today, that says "your data plan is not eligible for iphone 3g and does not support visual vm. Contact telecom manger to add enteripirse data for iphone?"
Does this mean if I continue to use the iphone I will be charged, more ? Other peeps on this board have indicated they have done the same thing and nothing has happened. Thanks - 01-25-2009, 07:43 AM #2
I think the data plan for the two phones is different, even though they cost roughly the same. When I took back my WinMo phone and got my Bold they told me I had to change data plans. I got the BB one and it was the same price.

Don't your think someone at AT&T CS can answer this question better than anyone here?

There are three types of data plans from what I believe (I'm with Rogers).
There's a PDA data plan
BlackBerry data plan
iPhone data plan.
When I originally signed up, the goof ball put me on the PDA data plan and none of the applications worked (my mobile browser was fine). So, I had to call back and they changed it for me. I think its just a matter of picking up the phone and asking to switch over. - 01-25-2009, 08:22 AM

Actually NO, did you ever ask a ATT CSR a question and get a correct answer, ask 5 csr at ATT and get 5 different answers. I think MOST users on this board have more knowledge, then the reps. Especially when 3 days before the bold was released, some csr at ATT DID NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT THE BOLD WAS. So the answer to your worthless response is NO - 01-25-2009, 08:54 AM

Well, I just checked and the Bold has come back to life after its swim, the speaker crackles when you move the ball, but the its working until I get my replacement. I will forward my calls to the iphone. To be honest, I have always been a bb user, but the iphone, really does so much more, the apps are better and most are free

I switched over from the iphone 3g and I feel the complete opposite about it. Other than web browsing and apps, that thing is a POS! SMS/MMS is a complete NIGHTMARE! Typing on the touch screen QWERTY sucked! Big time. It's just like Kevin said, "they should call it the ahhh F**K phone". I was always saying it too. Calls would always drop too...reception sucked on that thing. Now that I think about it, the web browsing was adequate...safari CRASHED a lot, but still a better browser than RIMs...SAD stuff

Oh yeah, I forgot...push email...LOL...what a joke on the iphone...emails came in 3,4,5 some times 6 hours after they were in my inbox.Last edited by Working Class Hero; 01-25-2009 at 11:27 AM. Reason: more iphone bashing

happened to me to... i had to call att cs and they just switched the data plan to blackberry... they made me put in this code in my phone to get a number to pop up and my blackberry thought it was an iPhone so i couldnt receive or send mms... i think you would have o do the same thing just vise versa

Nice job of turning this into yet ANOTHER Blackberry vs. iPhone thread. God knows we needed a few more...

I had the iPhone and iPhone 3G. I came back to BB both times after owning them. They don't't do "more". They do less. The ONLY better thing about an iPhone is the browser. There are a lot of cool apps, but they cost $ the free ones are free for a reason. You get what you pay for.

I had an older Blackberry that accidentaly went through a wash cycle in my pants pocket and was dripping wet when I pulled it out. I took the battery out and set the phone on the dashboard of my car durring the day so the sun could dry it out. Worked great for about 8months and then one day the screen went black and never worked again. The phone still worked...I just could not see what i was doing with it.
