Bold wont charge in Desktop Charger anymore

Hi all,
I'm new to this and wondered if anyone could help. Brought an old Bold off a mate for £20 (yes, £20!) as I'd lost my iPhone and just couldn't afford to get another one. The bold was a bit done in, screen was really dull and loads of dead pixels and housing was held together by bits of tape. Used it like that for a monh and actually really liked it. Thought I'd sort it out as planning to keep it for a while so brought a new housing off ebay for £7, really nice all black one, def not an original but fits very well. I read on a post somewhere here that the screen just comes off the plastic- no it doesn't! I didn't realise its all one unit and completely destroyed the screen. Brought a new one 002 from ebay for £10, fitted and its like a brand new phone now. Really impressed. One slight problem though, it won't charge in my desktop charger! I thought the little connectors might be fake on the new housing so I swapped out the originals from the old housing but still doesn't work. Has anyone else had the same issue? I love this bold now, I really want to keep it and I will but would really like it to charge on the desktop stand- I use it as my alarm clock!

Is the little light on the back of the charging dock illuminated when you plug the USB lead into it?

Hi - yes all lit up. Its def an issue with the points- ive taken it apart nearly 17 times now and just cannot get it to work.
JUst going to have to live with it! Thanks for the input.
