Bold owners' opinions of Bold camera
I presently own a Curve and am considering the purchase of a Bold.
I am intersted in the opinions of Bold owners about the Bold's camera. - 03-16-2009, 09:53 PM #2
pretty crappy, it doesent seem to know where to focus in the shot. its poor quality for sure. the iphone sadly kills in this category..

I see it as being a LITTLE bit better then my Curve 8320. But let me tell you again that it's VERY little. The reason it probably looks better is because of the HD screen...if it wasn't for that it would probably be just as bad IMO. doesn't bother me though that much...i don't really use it as my camera...just as my amazing phone
Back in Black...Blackberry Bold 9900 that is

Put it this way, I just bought a new digital camera that is roughly the size of my bold that I keep in my backpack all the time.

I actually find the camera to be pretty good. Just my opinion though.
I like it much better than my Curve.
Here's a pic I took with my Bold at Animal Kingdom a few days ago.

Thats a decent pic. But after seeing the storms I consider the bolds horrible.

The camera is the same as the curves they are both 2 mp the reason the bold might look nicer is because of the HD screen. I just got into a fight with my wife that her 8310 and my bold have the same camera. When you put them on the computer they look identical.
But the bold is probaly the must stable running blackberry to date IMO

It takes decent shots and video during the day and if you're outside. But your hands have to be pretty steady to get an in focus shot. Taking pictures during the evening or at night is just horrible. My biggest gripe with the Bold. Can't understand why the camera isn't any better than it is. The rest of the Bold's features, however, more than make up for this. Photogrpahy isn't my main concern with the phone.

As much as I love the Bold, I'm glad I have a digital camera.

The camera just does not compare to the 8900. The Bold camera is just ok at best.

The Bold's camera is ok, but in no way designed to replace a good digital camera. I wouldn't even take the 8900s camera over my digicam.

I think it's decent. Of course it's nothing special but it does have a flash and can record video. I'd rather have a blackberry with a bad camera than some stupid sony phone with a 12mp camera thats for sure.

I like the Bold camera. Now I'm not saying a 5 mega pixel camera wouldn't rock, but the pixx i get are pretty good... have a look-see!

I wish I had a digital camera of my own but the camera is decent and it's cool that it has flash.

It's very good for a cel phone camera, but not as good as a stand alone camera. It's about on par with the old Curve (have not tried the new Curve yet), but better than the Storm or my old Voyager or Razor.
