Default Bold not showing up under my computer?

So I just got my bold after using my 8900 and the phone wont show up under my computer? The desktop manager will see it fine and I even just got done upgrading the OS to .297 and it will show up real quick in the task bar when I connect it and go to the clock as its set to that but I cannot get it to show up under my computer!? I even have it set to mass storage mode and that doesnt work?

What do you see if you open Device Manager on the PC. (The PC one, not the BB one)?

i'm going to guess you're using XP.

The problem lies in BB Device Manager taking control of the BB from the OS, effectively blocking it from creating a new drive in Explorer.

When i was running XP, i didn't bother with DM or BDM at all, and it worked everytime for me.

Have you tried updating your device drivers in device manager? After I installed .297 I had to update the drivers. I'm also using Vista SP2.

Do you have any network drives mapped on your computer? My bold was trying to grab the same drive letter as one of my mapped drives, so it wouldn't show up on My Computer. I just had to re-map that network drive to a different drive letter.

Well I see a list of files
    BbDevMgr.exe
    BbDevMgrPs.dll
    RimUsb.sys
    rimusbnt.cat
    RimUsbNT.inf

and when I open the .inf file it shows this version: DriverVer=04/16/2008,4.1.0.4

is there some specific file I can download that is just a driver and not any software attached?

I just dont understand why my curve shows up but not my bold?!?

I'll ask again, do you have any network drives mapped on My Computer? For some reason the Bold has an issue with this if the mapped drive letters are the same that the Bold is looking to use.

OK. My only other thought is to check out this thread: http://forums.crackberry.com/f83/mas...orking-201956/. It seems to have helped out quite a few people with similar issues.

I'm glad it's working for you. I'm going to bookmark that link in case I have problems in the future. So far I haven't had that problem, and I use 16 MB microSD cards.
