Default Bold newbie here - Where to start?

    Hey there.

Just received my new Blackberry Bold on Orange (UK) and have just set it down to charge. I am a Crackberry virgin so will prob take me a lil while to get used to it.

Was wondering other than sit down with the instructions and have a lil play about with it does anyone have any advice as to anything I should do right from the start, or any applications I should look to install straight away.

    Thanks guys n gals

    Hi and welcome

I read the Newbies tab from end to end when I first found this place, and learned more in an afternoon than I would ever do with the manual.

Once I got started it was pretty intuitive, but I still keep finding quicker easier ways to do things.

    Good luck!

Welcome to CB and congrats on getting your new Bold.

Read, read and read some more, you will learn more from this forum than any manual

As for applications, if anything appeals to you just try them out! Anything you decide you don't like can be deleted.

You may not actually be in a 3G area if you're only getting EGDE.

I only get 3G right in the middle of my City but not in the outskirts where I live, I only get EDGE.

What OS are you running & Do you know if you're in a full 3G area ?

P.S - Welcome to the forum, you'll learn everything you need to know here.

I have upgraded my OS to OS: v4.6.0.162

You are maybe right about the area and the Orange map is down, will be gutted if that is the case as I have just moved over from Vodafone who I got 3G with.

Thanks for all your feedback everyone

Even with the updated software the reception is dropping a **** of alot. My sister in law is Orange and has had no problem with her phones here over the years, do you think it could be the handset?

I apologize in advance if there is another thread some where on CB covering the same subject, as I too am a "Newbie". My question though is--can you use BB messenger via WiFi? Thanks!
