I might not be correct, but I am pretty sure that the only way to use the internet from your Blackberry is with a tethering plan through your carrier. I don't think you can use it wirelessly as a wi-fi hotspot.

The tethering plan allows your BB to serve as a sort of modem that is connected through the usb port. It is sort of an extension to your data plan.

It should be possible through bluetooth, depends if your carrier provides access through the desired APN.

you can tether through the usb cable you just have to create a modem through dial up networking. you can use the search functions at the top of the page do figure it out

There are several programs for S60 based phones to do this. Also, there was an app for the iPhone put ATT had it removed within hours. (the program still works but can no longer be downloaded). I would think that someone could easily write a program to do this.

Technically, I have done this with T-Mobile UK. And you might also be able to share the laptop's connection with other laptops (the BB connected laptop acting as an access point)

But beware your provider may explictly prevent this kind of use. The plan I'm on with T-Mobile UK does this. Using my BB as a modem requires a more expensive plan. Not sure how this is ploiced in practice - but I'm sure my data usage pattern would look petty different if I was browsing on a laptop, let alone sharing with outher laptops too, rather than on a single BB.

I think that would be cool to setup, and I know of a program on Windows Mobile (which I had previously), it's called WM6 WiFi Router. It uses your 3G/EDGE/GPRS connection and you create an Ad-hoc (computer-to-computer/handheld) wireless network.
I'm fortunate that my Rogers/Canadian plan supports tethering, and my plan gives me 6GB of bandwidth/transfer.

I think this would be a great option for me at the cottage where I have 3G coverage on my Bold but only dial-up access via Bell. Which Rogers plan are you on?

You have more chance of hooking up between PC and Bold using Bluetooth. Your Bold will function as a wireless client into a hub but I don't think it supports hub (server) functions.
