Bold has software issues to say the least
I am new to the crackberry site as a forum member. I have visited the site many times without subscribing. I figured I might as well get aboard and start participating. I still have and owned many BB devices like the 7100i, 8100 pearl, 8120, 8130, 8320 and now the BB Bold 9000. Originally I wanted to update my Pearl 8100 to have A2DP stereo bluetooth with an OS update. I deleted the vendor .xml file and it never showed the upgrade in Desktop Manager. I finally gave up and bought the Curve 8320 to solve the problem. Good choice because I found the phone to be faster and a better choice. Now I have the Bold and it is absolutely necessary to upgrade the OS. It locks up, reboots, doesn't work with internet browser and sometimes mixes up my caller id. My question is this:
I am a Tmobile customer. Thus this is a non supported phone.
How do I get the OS upgrade to work? Deleted .xml file to no avail.
Do I change the .alx files at all?
The phone is a paperweight right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. - 10-27-2008, 02:21 AM #2

As sunkast said.
The best I've found is 4.6.0.167 (link in the sticky at the top of this message board). If you really want to clean it up also use CrackMem (download link in first message http://forums.crackberry.com/f35/cra...eleased-52044/ ) and remove most of the stuff in the right pane before launching Desktop Manager. On T-Mobile you might want to keep the t-Mo specials, but not sure if they give you any real benefit. I took out everything except Voice Dial, and it seems to work really well. - 10-27-2008, 09:44 PM
