Look on the back of your LCD when you open it up. On the very bottom of the back of the LCD, there will be a set of numbers etched into the metal casing. Either, 001/004, 002/004, or 003/004. You will need to get the exact same # model to replace yours. Hope this helps!

You can go to YouTube and search bold disassembly. A few video's are available.

I know of one fellow crackberrien "JoeyDee" who had bought a cnn.cn lcd a while back and had to return it as it was incomplete. Now that was a while back and maybe since that issue has been corrected. I'm on my Berry now, but if later when I'm on my PC I'll see if I can find the post.

I ordered a screen from gounlock.com (screen 002/004 to be exact) and just got it today via FedEx 3 day service. The packaging was excellent. I installed the LCD and it works perfectly.

What about the LED light? Was it included with the new LCD? Just wondering as I remember another member posting on here a few months back with an issue with the one he received from CNN.

Good question...

The LED itself is on the logic board, not on the LCD screen. The piece that you are talking about is a black plastic piece with a small foam band on it and contains the LED lens and the earpiece mesh.

The LCD I bought from gounlock already had this piece on it. However, even if it didn't have this, its very easy to remove this piece from the back of the old LCD and stick it on the new one. Its attached to the LCD lens by a reusable adhesive.

Ordering from GoUnlock.com (aka SkyStarTrade.com) should be done at your own risk as their customer service sucks!

I need to vent here as I'm quite frustrated with them!
I ordered my screen and was quite pleased to have it in the mail the next day (I'm local). Well unfortunately it didn't work right and I had to return it. I contacted their support and they we helpful in discussing it and then instructing me to send it back. So far so good. I sent it back on the second biz day after receiving it, and they received it the next day. A couple of days later I contacted them and asked when I should receive the replacement. They told me it would take 1-2 weeks for them to process returns. I told them it wasn't a "return" but an "exchange". They just emailed me the excerpt from their policy online (which I'd already read) and were quite rude about things at this point, and won't explain their policy any further.

I waited the two weeks and contacted them again. No reply. So I try the telephone and they instruct me to use the chat online, so fine I do that. They tell me it will ship on Monday (great, if true) which is almost three weeks after receiving it back (an eternity with a too-damaged-to-read screen!). I simply ask why they took so long and they just disconnected without answering. I open a new chat and ask again and here's their reply.

William Davis: Hello, I had posted a question in my previous chat but was disconnected without an answer: Vincent: we will ship it to you on Monday

Vincent: so no need to call or email

Vincent: we will send tracking # after shipped or you will have your LCD someday next week

William Davis: Thank you. I look forward to it.
Can you help me understand what's going on? It's hard to not be frustrated with the delay.

You are now speaking with Vincent of Sales.

Vincent: as i said we will ship lcd on Monday, so stop bothering please

Vincent: bye now

Your party has left this session.

OK, end of venting (if I get my screen soon!).

My best advice is to avoid Skystartrade aka gounlock. They they refuse to refund your money, even though they sent you knockoffs claiming they were OEM. They send defective parts but refuse to send replacements when you return them even though they agreed to do so. Chris is the contact person, and he and his company have no concept of customer service. I don't know how they stay in business. They owe us hundreds of dollars. Never again. Take a look at their grade "F" report on the Better Business Bureau's website.
