blackberry bold 9000 not working. doesnt pick up sim.

i recently got a new battery for my bold. but it wouldnt start if i insert the battery so i have to spark the battery to turn the cell on. also my bold isnt reading any sim card it has been unlocked and was working alright . it has had these problems for a long time. it doesnt turn on when i connnect it to the computer either. do i need to upgrade my OS? it is currently running on 4.6. and can someone plz help me fix my blackberry. i need urgent help .

Is the sim for a gsm carrier? Yes upgrade the OS to the latest OS5 version. OS5 is a lot better theb 4.6 anyway regardless if it fixes the problem or not.

well it wont even giv the red light or connect to d computer. how do i reload the OS?
